Indigo (Dyed to Order)

$30.00

This indigo is dyed in an indigo vat. This oxygen reduced dying environment creates a lovely denim blue that goes well with many of our other colors.

Indigo has been used by a variety of cultures across the world as their primary blue pigment. Its derived from a number of sources, including plants in the genus’ Persicaria, Indigofera and Isatis. Each of these plants produce different amount of the indigo pigment and can be grouped under the heading “indigo” or called by their specific common names, such as dyers knotweed, woad and natal indigo. You find examples of indigo dyed cloth from the Andes to the Indus.

This yarn is 100% hand spun wool. Choose between two yarns weights (DK or worsted). Both of these yarn weights are single ply and come in 200 yard skeins (182y).

Lead time is 5 days on dyed to order for under three skeins. For 3-8 skeins, lead time will be 7 days. If you are ordering more than 8 skeins I will contact you with a ship by estimate. All lots will be dyed as one lot so the skeins match perfectly.

If you are unfamiliar with single ply yarn, two commercially available single ply yarns you might have tried are the Malabrigo worsted weight and the Manos de Uruguay Franca.
